Regarding modular circuits, the selection of RJ connectors has a decisive effect. So when choosing RJ connectors, from which perspectives should we consider RJ connectors suitable for hardware use?
1, pin, distance
The number of pins and the distance between pins are the basic basis for the selection of RJ connectors. The number of pins to choose the RJ connector depends on the number of signals that need to be connected. Regarding some patch type RJ connectors, patch headers and the number of pins should not be too much. Because in the soldering process of the placement machine, due to the high temperature effect, the plastic of the RJ connector will be heated and deformed, and the middle part will bulge, resulting in false soldering of the pins. The P800Flash programmer used this pin header and female header to connect between boards in the early stage of development. As a result, the pins of the prototype pin header were soldered in a large area. After changing to two pin headers with half-folded pins, there has been no false soldering.
Now electronic equipment is developing towards miniaturization and refinement, and the pin distance of the RJ connector also ranges from 2.54mm to 1.27mm and then to 0.5mm. The smaller the lead distance, the higher the production process requirements. The lead distance should depend on the company’s production technology level. Blindly seeking a small distance will cause difficulties in production and maintenance.
